- ADDITIONAL MEMBERSHIP SIGN-UP / KEY EXCHANGE DAYS
We will be having extra renewal days on December 28th from 7:00PM to 9:00PM and January 2nd from 11:00AM to 3:00PM at the KBM. The range locks will be changed the morning of January 2nd. Those of you who have already renewed need to exchange your old keys. Make sure you bring your old "A" stamped key and your membership card for 2023. We will also be accepting renewal forms for 2023 on January 2nd. . - CALL TO ACTION - TRUDEAU LIBERALS BANNING NEARLY ALL SPORTING FIREARMS
By now most of you should have heard about the Liberals amendment to Bill C-21. The Executive Team fully endorses the letter writing campaign of the CCFR as well as the lawsuits filed by CCFR against the Order in Counsel and the CSSA against the handgun freeze. We encourage all of our members to join any or all of the national firearms associations, the CCFR, CSSA or the NFA to help support them in their fight against the Liberals on our behalf. Remember, your inaction equals approval, let our voices be heard. "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men and women to do nothing." From the CCFR: "November 24, 2022 - Bury their desks in letters!!! I know ... I'm sick of it all too. But our silence is consent. We spend how much time commiserating on social media or with friends about the Liberal government's constant attack on the legal firearm community? Let's refocus some of that time on flooding their offices, and burying their desks in letters. Yes, I mean paper letters. Here's why. Parliamentarians have staff that handle their emails, mail and social media. For the most part, they get the usual stuff, the odd letter here and there and a bunch of angry emails. Nobody notices any of that stuff. But picture this, a staffer walking in to their boss's office after a weekend to bins and bins full of letter mail. I want every Liberal, NDP and Bloq MP absolutely buried in paper mail. I want you to go over to your gun safe or gun room and open the door. Look at each rifle and think about what they mean to you, the memories you've created with them and the adventures you've been on together. How important is your sport and way of life to you? What is it worth to you, and how much would you do to try and save them. This "Call to Action" will require the following things from you; 5 sheets of paper, 5 envelopes, a pen, 15 minutes of your time. I know many of you have already contacted your MP, or even the Public Safety Minister, but this is different - this is a coordinated action we will all do together. As you know, in SECU, the Liberals have introduced a last minute amendment that would ban, essentially, all semi auto's in Canada. This is on top of the sweeping May 2020 gun ban and the handgun freeze. This is the largest gun ban in the history of our country and affects every one of the 2.3 million of us who own guns. That's why it's imperative you work with me on this. In your letter, focus on a few main points. Example: this ban directly impacts millions of Canadians who've done nothing wrong; this ban doesn't impact criminals with illicit firearms committing violence; this ban wasn't part of the original bill, wasn't debated in the House, expert witnesses didn't get to speak to it and no consultations were done to measure the impact or effectiveness; this ban further divides Canadians at a time when polarization is rampant. Use your main points of contention to write a short, concise letter. Here's what I wrote as an example: Dear Minister Mendicino, I am writing to you today to express my complete objection to C21, and in particular Liberal amendment G4 which is essentially a ban on all semi auto rifles and shotguns commonly used by hunters and licensed gun owners across the country. Canadians were shocked at the underhanded way this was snuck into the bill in the 11th hour as an "amendment", circumventing any study or debate and evading democracy entirely. This amendment and hunting gun ban will solely impact the legal gun owning community and directly targets hunters instead of focusing on reducing actual crime, violence and gun smuggling. All this at a time when Canadians are already divided by the political polarization of the Liberal government. I'll remind you all that the Liberal government was wholly rejected by western Canada and reduced to a weakened minority during the last election. There is no mandate for this action and the political consequences of this attack will surely be felt in your riding. - Tracey Wilson, Ottawa, ON. Now repeat these steps to write 4 more, one to the Prime Minister and one to your Member of Parliament. Consider also sending one to the NDP public safety critic ALISTAIR MACGREGOR and the Bloq public safety critic KRISTINA MICHAUD. Address them all to the same address, but use their names. NO STAMP IS REQUIRED!! You can repeat this process for every MP you think should be contacted. This is simply the first step in a series of Calls to Action we will be asking you to help with. If each of them receive 10 000 letters that's only 0.5% of gun owners. Let's create an avalanche of opposition to their overreach and authoritarianism. Please be advised that on Saturday October 22 Fundy Shooting Sports will be hosting the RNBRA Single Stack Championship which will also be a memorial match for a great friend Jim McGee who we lost to a long battle with cancer. All pistols are welcome but awards will be given to those competitors that compete with single stack 1911 pistols. Holster carry required, please contact Jody if you have any questions. If registering by email please include full details of your firearm that you will be using as well as the caliber and make the subject line "Single Stack". Some of us will be shooting pistols that were Jim's and we welcome everyone who would like to come to enjoy a fun day of shooting to celebrate Jim's memory. On Sunday October 23 we will be hosting the RNBRA Revolver Championship. Both Pistol ranges will be in use for the day, all other ranges will remain open. The match fee is $20 and the round count is 150 rounds. This is a Practical Pistol Match requiring the competitor to use a centerfire revolver carried in a belt mounted holster. All other centerfire pistols are welcome but awards will be given to those competing with a revolver. We have selected September 10th, 2022 for our annual Scout Appreciation Day. In order to put on this shoot there is a lot of work that has to be done and we have attached an updated list of all the various things that we need to do in order to have a successful event. If enough members commit to doing the various items then no one person has to do a lot. Please review the list and get back to Dave Greene (dhgreene@nbnet.nb.ca) with which item or items you are willing to do to make this event run smoothly. We already have some members who have volunteered to supply rifles but we need more and there are many other items as noted on the attached list. Just pop Dave an email with your selection. We will be having our 17th annual Dana Russell Memorial Shotgun Shoot on Saturday September 17, 2022. We are asking for pre-registrations forms to be completed along with a $20 registration fee. You can send your registration fee by EFT to Dave Greene - dhgreene@nbnet.nb.ca (use Dana22 for a password), mail, or in person at a Wednesday night shotgun shoot. The total cost of the shoot will be $60.00 for 100 clays. We will be accepting a maximum of 30 shooters so we are asking that anyone from the club that will be attending to complete the attached registration form and forward it and your fee to Dave Greene by Sept 4th. After September 4th, if we do not have 30 shooters from our club registered we will be extending the invitation to other clubs so please let us know before then. A BBQ lunch will be included and there will be a draw for a Stevens 555 over/under 12Ga shotgun. Everyone who is registered will get a ticket on the shotgun plus you may purchase up to two extra tickets on the gun for $10 each. He is starting a fundraiser for both our club and the CCFR. The mugs are going to be $55 each plus tax. - Jim McGee - February 11, 1946 - August 9, 2022
It is with great sadness that the family of James “Jim” Michael McGee, loving husband to the late Christina, announce his passing on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on February 11, 1946, he was a son of the late Myrtle (Johnson) and Carroll McGee. Jim retired from Irving Oil where he performed a number of roles over the years, from working in the Accounting Department to serving as an IT Project Manager. He had a passion for shooting sports and belonged to several gun clubs where he was an accomplished competitive shooter and mentor. Jim loved his family. In particular, making memories with his wife Christina during their many years together and spending time with his granddaughter Taliesin “Charlie”. They changed his life in ways that he didn’t expect. He will be missed by all who knew him. Jim is survived by his sons, Bruce (Anca) of Toronto, On and Brian (Heather) of Miramichi, NB; granddaughter, Taliesin “Charlie”; sister-in-law, Annette McGee; brother-in-law, Stanley Merritt. In addition to his parents and wife, Christina, Jim was also predeceased by his brothers, Carroll and Richard and his sisters, Jeannie McGee and June Latta. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 23 at 2PM in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 327 Westmorland Road, Saint John. For those who wish, donations in Jim’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice. For all those members who knew Jim, it would be nice to see the club well represented at the service. If you can make it please join us. During the courses of fire, reloading the firearm may be required, so pouches for holding additional ammunition are necessary. Round count will be 40-50 rifle, 50 birdshot, 5 slugs and 50-75 rounds of pistol. For those that do not have a handgun, you may use a pistol caliber carbine for the pistol portion but will not be eligible for awards. Match fee is $20 and preregistration is MANDATORY. Our Annual Youth Shoot will be held on Saturday August 13th at 10:00 am. It is open to the children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews of our members who are between the ages of 10 and 17. Members are to provide their own .22LR rifles and ammunition. If you would like to participate and do not have a .22 rifle the club has a Marlin 795 semi-auto rifle with 5 magazines for any member to use. Please ensure that your rifle is sighted in prior to the shoot as there will be no time to do so before to the shoot. We will be giving away, on a draw basis, a Ruger 10/22 Semi-automatic .22LR gray synthetic stocked rifle complete with 4 spare magazines, Tasco Red Dot Scope and a Ruger 10/22 soft case. - IPSC AND PCC MATCH SUNDAY JULY 10
Please be advised that there will be an IPSC Pistol and PCC match on Sunday July 10th and both pistol ranges will be in use for the day until late afternoon. Also, prior to the match there will be some set up for the event, so please do not disturb the work being done by the volunteers. The ranges will still be usable for the membership, just slightly restricted. Online match registration is available on Practiscore. Once registered, you will receive all the info you will need regarding the match. First shots at 10:00 AM. The 25/50 yard and 100 yard ranges will be open for all members to use during this time. Wednesday July 6th, 2022 the whole range will be closed from 10:00AM to 3:00PM while the Chief Firearms Office does their inspection. All ranges will be closed, no exceptions. Please ensure that you keep the range clean and tidy (remove used targets & pick up brass), replace any range markers that are damaged, keep grass mowed so we are in top notch shape. - NATIONAL RANGE DAY UPDATE - PICTURES
On June 4th Fundy Shooting Sports Inc. hosted a National Range Day event in support of the CCFR. We had 92 guests arrive at the range in Mispec over the course of the day. They enjoyed a fun event where they were instructed and shown how to safely use firearms and take part in the challenge of marksmanship. Once again the executive is truly grateful for the support and assistance of so many club members who helped make this event a success. We are holding a 100 yard rifle match at Fundy Shooting Sports. This will be similar to an F Class event for scoped rifles, but a little more relaxed. It will be on Saturday, June 11th, starting at 10:00 am. The shoot will utilize the club's electronic targeting systems. The registration fee is $10 per shooter, email Nick Munn (nick.munn@nbed.nb.ca) to register. We will be shooting two strings of 12 shots, (2 sighters and 10 for score). Shooting will be done from the benches and the prone position, shooters choice. If you do not have a rifle but would like to try this event, a .308 and .223 rifle will be available for your use (bring your own ammo). If you have an IPad or other internet capable device, bring that to see your target hits. Will have loaners if you do not have a device. If you have any questions please contact Nick directly. Hi everyone - All I can say about our National Range Day is WOW! What an awesome day. It surpassed our hopes, for sure. Firstly, we would like to thank everyone that took part in this. It was a lot of work to put together. So, to the committee chaired by Danny Adams, thanks guys. They had many meetings to get everything ironed out. The day went very well, not too many hiccups. To everyone that volunteered THANK YOU!!! It was the largest group I have ever seen at the range, this was paramount to the success of the event. To see that many members working together was amazing! Seeing all the smiles on peoples faces was so awesome, everyone really had a great time. We had several people ask when we were going to do it again. In closing, we are very proud of the club and it’s members. In support of this, and keeping with our club's mandate to introduce and educate about firearms, we will be holding an open range day event for interested members of the public to try out firearms. Volunteers are needed, please contact event chair Dan Adams, 635-5479, if you can help. - TRUDEAU LIBERALS FIGHT GUN CRIME BY PAINTING LAWFUL OWNERS AS THE PROBLEM
In yet another virtue-signalling attempt at social engineering firearms out of the Canadian landscape, a grandstanding public safety minister ruthlessly exploited a tragedy in another country. Implementing draconian changes that seek to eliminate lawful ownership and use of firearms, Marco Mendicino characterized gun owners as the root of criminal misuse. From the CCFR: "In Ottawa yesterday evening, using the prestigious Chateau Laurier hotel as a backdrop, Justin Trudeau gathered a group of anti gun activists and Liberal Ministers to deliver a massive sucker punch to the Canadians firearm community and industry. The usual smug non-answers followed the press conference as journalists tried to make sense of the outright assault on legal handgun owners. So what's in the bill? Let's review: Handgun "Freeze": Rather than opting for the provincial or municipal handgun bans he promised in a variety of election campaigns, Trudeau announced a "freeze" on the sale, transfer, import and buying of legal handguns in Canada. The Federal Liberals state they hope to have this in place by the fall of 2022, but it needs to follow the democratic process. In the meantime, we suggest that you go handgun shopping immediately. If you are having trouble finding stock of the model(s) you are interested in, consider using our Business Member Directory to find retailers you may not be aware of. The far-reaching implications of this is that we are one generation away from the end of handgun sports. IPSC, IDPA, Cowboy Action, many other dynamic shooting genres will die with us. The next generation, nor any new shooters, will ever be able to buy a handgun for sport shooting if this receives royal assent. The old Bill C-21 brought back: most of the legislation seems to be a rebirth of the old C-21 from the last parliamentary session, minus the provision for a provincial handgun ban (for obvious reasons), and the codifying of the mandatory "buyback" for the guns banned back in May of 2020. Domestic Violence: A new provision added makes anyone who has a restraining order against them, or a domestic violence charge, unable to acquire a PAL, and those who already have them will have it revoked. I think all Canadians can agree, we don't want violent abusers to have guns, but without clarification on qualifiers, this measure is easily open to abuse. Watch for more on this at the committee stage. Evergreening of Classifications: The new C-21 has a built-in provision that will make it very difficult for future government's to reclassify prohibited firearms. Of course, nothing is impossible, but it will require a great deal of encouragement. Restricted certificates would also "expire" upon reclassification of firearms, denying gun owners the opportunity for a Section 74 challenge. Mag dump: Minister Mendicino said that he will be tabling regulations to ensure that no long gun magazine can ever accommodate more than the legal limit of cartridges, regardless of caliber or action. They've also added a new criminal code offence for modifying a magazine - solving a problem that doesn't exist. Red/Yellow Flags: Again, another set of measures that already exist. Law Enforcement has the full weight of their power to seize and remove firearms already, but this appeases a group of under-informed women's groups and anti gun lobbyists. Airsoft Ban: We were almost surprised to see the resurrection of airsoft bans brought back into the new C-21. This has nothing to do with public safety, and everything to do with ideology. Liberals obviously don't want people "playing" gun related games. They are attacking our culture at every level. The CCFR will vigorously oppose this bill." Fundy Shooting Sports will be starting up our .22LR Rimfire Rifle Shoots beginning this Thursday evening April 28th starting at 6:00PM. We will be using the covered firing point on the 25/50 yard range incorporating bench and standing positions at various targets at distances of 25 to 50 and up to 100 yards in the weeks ahead. Any .22LR rifle with iron sights or optics are welcome. Bipods or rifle rests will be helpful, sandbags are acceptable and are available as well. The cost will be $5 per person, open to the young and old, providing the shooter can shoot independently with very little supervision and in a safe manner. There will be a Practical Pistol Match utilizing IPSC safety rules on Saturday, April 9th with first shots at 10:00 AM. Match fee is $10, please bring a lunch. Round count will be 140-150 rounds. If more than 20 shooters register, there will be afternoon squads starting at 1:00 PM. You will be advised what schedule you will be on. It is on a first come, first serve basis. If you shoot in the AM, and if there is room in the afternoon you can shoot the match a second time with a different firearm if you choose at no extra cost. Competitors are asked to help tear down at the end of the day, and all brass will be picked and divided up after the scores are read. This Sunday (April 3rd), weather permitting, we will be having a Shotgun Flush from 1:00 until 3:00. All other ranges will be shut down during this event. There will be 8 clay throwers from 60-70 yards out throwing high and inbound clays. There should be 15 to 20 clays in the air at the same time so there will be lots to shoot. We can put as many as 11 shooters on the firing line at the same time. As long as the clay is in the air it is fair to shoot so as quick as you can reload you can fire again until the clays stop flying. This is a fun shoot (no scoring), something to exercise your dormant trigger fingers. Match fee is $6 per line of at least 25 clays to cover the costs of the clays and you must bring your own shells. Remember no shot larger than #7 1/2 so #8 and #9 are good as well. This event is open to all gauges, shotgun actions and magazine capacities. Round count should be around 50-100 so bring lots of shells. If you plan on attending please email Dave Greene (dhgreene@nbnet.nb.ca) so we know how many are coming. Mark on your calendar, our next Fundy Shooting Sports meeting is on Tuesday March 8th at 7:00 PM at the KBM Outing Association at 2452 Westfield Road in West Saint John. Fundy Shooting Sports will be hosting the George McGillivary 3-Gun on Saturday December 4th with the 5th as a rain date. Match fee is $20, there will be a BBQ lunch provided. First shots at 9:00 AM, registration starts at 8:30 AM. Round count will be 50 rounds for each firearm - pistol, rifle and shotgun. Shotgun will have 5-10 slugs. - STEEL CHALLENGE MATCH SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 26
To all members, please be advised that there will be a Steel Challenge type match next Sunday, Sept 26th, with first shots down range at 9:30 AM. Registration at the range starts at 8:45 AM and the match fee is $20 and is on a first come, first served basis. Online registration closes 6 PM Saturday, Sept 25th. We will be using both Pistol Bays as well as the 25/50 Yard Range. The round count will be 150 minimum. This match is open to rimfire pistol and rifle, non-magnum caliber handguns and pistol caliber carbines. To avoid confusion, upon registering via email please make the subject line "Steel" and include what firearm you are using, caliber, and whether or not it has an optic, muzzle brake etc... and you will be placed in the appropriate category. Competitors with IPSC Black Badge and RNBRA Practical Pistol training will be permitted to draw their pistol from a holster. Those that don't will have an alternate start position explained to them before commencing. Preregistration is mandatory and can be done via email to Jody at ipscjody@yahoo.com . Please make the subject line "Rimfire Steel". Specify in your email what you will be shooting, rifle or pistol, and what division your firearm fits in. Courses of fire will have 5-6 steel targets of different sizes and shapes, and shot from multiple distances. Each competitor will shoot each course of fire five (5) times with the slowest time being a "throw away." Ideally you should have 5 magazines to run the 5 courses, but bring what you have and we will get you through the match. Cased pistols are mandatory for going to and from the firing line. Rimfire rifles will be transported to and from the firing line completely unloaded, muzzle up with chamber flag installed or bolt locked open for the interim. We will be giving away, on a draw basis, a Ruger 10/22 (Black synthetic stock) rifle with a Tasco Red Dot Scope, 4 spare magazines and a soft Ruger case. All entrants will get a ticket on the draw and you may purchase up to 2 additional tickets for $10 each. If you would like to shoot this event and don't have a .22LR semi auto rifle the club has a Marlin Model 795 (with Red Dot Scope) with 5 magazines that any member can borrow and use for the day at no charge. We are holding a 200 yard rifle match at Fundy Shooting Sports. This will be similar to an F Class event for scoped rifles, but a little more relaxed. It will be on Sunday, September 12th, starting at 10:00 am. Scoring will be done via an electronic scoring system and RNBRA targets will be used. The registration fee is $10 per shooter, email Nick Munn nick.munn@nbed.nb.ca to register. Registration open to first 24 people to register. We will be shooting two strings of 17 shots, (2 sighters and 15 for score) for a total of 34 rounds required. Shooting will be done from the benches and the prone position, shooters choice. If you do not have a rifle but would like to try this event, a .308 and .223 rifle will be available for your use (bring your own ammo). If you have an IPad or other internet capable device, bring that to see your target hits. We will have loaners if you do not have a device. We will be giving away, on a draw basis, a Ruger 10/22 Semi-automatic .22LR synthetic stocked rifle complete with 4 spare magazines, Tasco Red Dot Scope and a Ruger 10/22 soft case. We will be having our 16th annual Dana Russell Memorial Shotgun Shoot on Saturday September 11, 2021. We are asking for pre-registrations forms to be completed along with a $20 registration fee. You can send your registration fee by EFT (use Dana21 for a password), mail, or in person at a Wednesday night shotgun shoot. The total cost of the shoot will be $60.00 for 100 clays. We will be accepting a maximum of 30 shooters so we are asking that anyone from the club that will be attending to complete the attached registration form and forward it and your fee to Dave Greene by Sept 4th. After September 4th, if we do not have 30 shooters from our club registered we will be extending the invitation to other clubs so please let us know before then. A BBQ lunch will be included and there will be a draw for a Stevens 555 over/under 12Ga shotgun. Everyone who is registered will get a ticket on the shotgun plus you may purchase up to two extra tickets on the gun for $10 each. Our annual Youth Shoot for the children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews of our members was held on August 21, 2021 with 20 youth registered. They were all able to shoot paper and BBQ briquette targets at the 25 yard line and balloons at 50 yards as well. Some of the table prizes were: Bass Pro Sleeping Bag, Browning Range Kit, Red Head Knapsack, Bass Pro Flashlights, $25 Prepaid Credit Card, Rifle Scope, Beretta Range Bags, Bore Snakes, Bore light, Winchester 333 .22LR shells, Youth Hunting Vests, Assorted Hats and American Eagle 400 .22LR shells. If you would like to participate and do not have a .22 rifle the club has a Marlin 795 semi-auto rifle with 5 magazines for any member to use. Please ensure that your rifle is sighted in prior to the shoot as there will be no time to do so before to the shoot. We will be giving away, on a draw basis, a Ruger 10/22 semi-automatic .22LR gray synthetic stocked rifle complete with 4 spare magazines, Tasco Red Dot Scope, and a Ruger 10/22 soft case. We have a good selection of additional prizes, 6 flashlights, Bass Pro Youth Sleeping Bags, 2 Red Head Napsacks, 2 .22 cal. Bore Snakes, Hoppes Bore Light, 2 Beretta Range Bags, and an assortment of hats, frisbees, and participant medals as well. - PRACTICAL SHOTGUN SHOOT JULY 3
Please be advised that we will be having a Practical Shotgun match on Saturday, July 3rd, with first shots at 9:00AM. Registration opens at 8:30 and the match fee is $20, lunch is included. Round count will be 100+ of birdshot (#7.5, #8 or #9) and 10 rounds of slugs. Courses of fire will not exceed 18 rounds, so reloading the gun safely during the course of fire is necessary, so have a pouch or means to carry additional rounds. Targets will be stationary clay birds and knock down steel with cardboard targets for slugs. Recognized divisions will be as follows: OPEN - Magazine fed, or use of speed loaders with or without optical sights. LIMITED AUTO - Semi with no optics, ports or comps. Not mag fed and no speed loaders. LIMITED MANUAL - Manual action with no optics ports or comps. Not mag fed and no speed loaders. No shotgun will be loaded to more than 5 rounds before the start signal to limit any advantage to large capacity guns. Please be advised: targets are calibrated with an 18" 12 gauge with cylinder bore and #8 shot. We have steel that reacts or falls, so be mindful that your 14 inch cylinder Remington 870 may not knock the steel down. We cannot accommodate every gun out there, but the parameters we are setting are fair. Registration is MANDATORY and there will be no walk-ins. The following is an FYI from Jody Waring to all members in regards to Steel Targets: "On a go forward basis there will be no steel targets supplied for use by the general membership. They will only be available to shoot at organized matches. It was just brought to my attention that the plate rack I had made currently on the large pistol range had what looks like all of the plates destroyed. It will need to be taken out of service and off of the range before someone gets hurt. I have made the decision to no longer offer to build or supply any targets or other related items for use by the general membership. Not only is it disrespectful and ignorant, it is dangerous. If the guilty person(s) are caught I expect there to be a ban of their membership. Fundy Shooting Sports has been asked by the Department of Natural Resources if we would be interested in teaching the Firearms Safety course. With last years shut down of courses there is now a backlog of approximately 5,000 students province wide plus another 5,000 looking to take the course this year as well. We would need 6-8 members who are or can be certified as instructors. Prospective instructors would be required to obtain a Criminal Record Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check, complete an application for Instructor Certification and attend a 4 hour instructor class room course. The hours are from 6:00 to 9:30 pm each night Monday to Friday and you must have an outdoors card number. Courses through the Welsford office are free for minors 12-16 years of age and books are supplied for them as well. In case you haven't heard we were able to raise $3,000 to go to the CCFR Legal Defense Fund. The organizing team (mostly Jody Waring) put on a great shoot with a large attendance and lots of prizes. Our contribution was recently acknowledged on a CCFR Pod Cast, Episode #94 with Rod Giltaca and Tracey Wilson, which was broadcast nationally, here is the link. You can certainly watch it all, but our portion starts at time stamp 25:22 to 28:38. Unfortunately, they made it sound like we made our $3K donation plus another $2K from the club; they mixed up what we had previously donated last year and they have since acknowledged that fact but it doesn't detract from our accomplishment fighting the stupidity of the Trudeau liberals firearm confiscation scheme.

To all members, there will be an opportunity to take a safety and proficiency course offered by the Royal New Brunswick Rifle Assoc.(RNBRA) that will teach you how to safely draw from a holster, move safely with the pistol, perform reloads safely and efficiently and educate you on what to expect at your first club match. This will be great for those wanting to learn about practical shooting and will prepare you for club level events. Cost of the course is $50 which will include a membership with the RNBRA, and upon successful completion you will receive a certificate from the RNBRA recognizing your accomplishments. You will need a serviceable and safe handgun (preferably 9mm or larger) with 4 magazines, a belt mounted holster that covers the trigger guard and lots of ammunition (300-500 rounds). The course is 8 hours, and will be held over two (2) evenings, or a full weekend day. - We are holding a 100 yard rifle match at Fundy Shooting Sports. This event is similar to an F Class event for scoped rifles, but a little more relaxed. It will be on Saturday, June 12th, starting at 10:00 am. The registration fee is $10 per shooter, email Nick Munn (nick.munn@nbed.nb.ca) to register. We will be shooting two (2) strings of 12 shots (2 sighters and 10 for score). Shooting will be done from the benches and the prone position, shooters choice. If you do not have a rifle but would like to try this event a .308 and .223 rifle will be available for your use (bring your own ammo). If you have an IPad or other internet capable device, bring that to see your target hits as we are using electronic scoring systems. We will have loaners if you do not have a device. UPDATE: EVENT RESULTS We had a very successful shoot with 43 shooters in attendance from all over New Brunswick, they came from Moncton, Fredericton, St. Stephen and Miramichi. Through entrance fees, extra tickets on the rifle, raffle for bricks of .22LR and additional individual donations we are pleased to announce that we raised $3,000 to go to the CCFR to help our legal fight with the Federal Government. The winner of the Ruger 10/22 rifle with 4 extra magazines, Red Dot scope and soft case was member Todd Aube. On behalf of the Executive Team we thank all of our members who helped to make this a very successful shoot, especially Jody Waring who spearheaded the event - Dave Greene - Members, please be advised, there will be a fundraiser match on Saturday, June 5th, at Fundy Shooting Sports. All the proceeds will go to support the CCFR Legal Challenge. Match fee is $20. There will be raffles for draw prizes. A BBQ lunch is included but donations will be accepted and welcomed. This will be a Steel Challenge type match open to .22 rimfire pistol and rifles, centerfire pistols and pistol caliber carbines. You will require a minimum of 150 rounds to complete the match, and 5 magazines or speed loaders is recommended. Registration is via email, and upon registering, state your full name and the firearm you will be competing with, what caliber and if it has an optic or a compensator. You will then be placed in the correct division with competitors with the same equipment. There will be two (2) time slots. The first starts at 9 AM with registration opening at 8:30 AM and the second at 1 PM with registration at 12:30 PM. Please state in your email which you choose otherwise it will be chosen for you. If the afternoon time slots do not fill up, the morning competitors can shoot again in the afternoon, the cost of admission is the purchase of one (1) raffle ticket. - .22 RIMFIRE RIFLE NIGHTS STARTING THURSDAY MAY 27
Fundy Shooting Sports will be having a .22LR Rimfire Rifle Shoot Night beginning this Thursday evening May 27th starting at 6:00 pm. We will be using the covered firing point on the 25/50 yard range incorporating bench and standing positions at various targets at distances of 25 to 50 and up to 100 yards in the weeks ahead. Any .22LR rifle with iron sights or optics are welcome. Bipods or rifle rests will be helpful, sandbags are acceptable and are available as well. The cost will be $5 per person, open to young and old, providing the shooter can shoot independently with very little supervision and in a safe manner. The match will use a combination of IPSC and USPSA rules, hit factor scoring, and major/minor power factor will be utilized. George McKillop will serve as Range Master for the event. Each individual stage will require 6-24 rounds to complete. Bring extra rounds. Registration at 9:00AM with first shots at 9:30AM. A BBQ of fine range cuisine will be available. At the recently held March meeting Dave Greene made a presentation detailing the benefits of installing an electrically operated, card-access secured gate at the Mispec range. There is a significant cost to the club maintaining the present key-based access system. While not inexpensive the proposed gate would solve many issues and make access quick and easy for members. We have scheduled a Fundy Shooting Sports meeting for Wednesday March 17th at 7:00 PM at the KBM Outing Association at 2452 Westfield Road in West Saint John. This venue will allow us to provide the membership with the required social distancing. Hand sanitizer and face masks will be available at the door. We will also be collecting Contact Tracing Information (name and phone number) at the door as well. If you have any questions please contact any member of the Executive Team. If you have any friends or family members who would like to join the club please send them along with a completed application form, a valid PAL/RPAL and the membership fee of $85. There will also be a Range Safety Orientation after the meeting for those new members who still require it. This meeting will also serve as our Annual General Meeting. We will be having election of Officers for the Positions of President and Treasurer. Also, we propose the following changes/additions to the Constitution: Section 3.2 – Addendum #2 Lifetime Members - Add Charlie Cain to the Lifetime Membership role, for his meritorious services to the club as Past President. New Section 10.1 – Borrowing Powers – That the President and Treasurer jointly (both to sign) are hereby authorized, directed and empowered to execute, for and on behalf of Fundy Shooting Sports Inc., any documents or certificates required in connection with any indebtedness of the corporation for the following: a. Any Loan Agreements or Promissory Notes b. That they each be granted purchasing authority through the use of corporation credit cards. Section #4 – Hours of Operation – Remove the reference “to one half hour prior” - The range will be open for active shooting between the hours of 9:00 AM to one half hour prior to legal hunting end time (as posted by the Dept. of Natural Resources) no later than 9:00 PM (21:00 Hours). The range will be open every day of the week unless prior notification is given. In Safety Rules #1, we add, that chamber flags will be mandatory at any sanctioned shoots? Due to Saint John now being in a Covid "Red Level" we are forced to make the following changes. The range will remain open for up to 5 members only on an individual basis under the following conditions: First, upon entry please close and lock the main gate to prevent any unauthorized entry by the general public. Second, you must do a head count and if there are already 5 members there then you must withdraw to the flag pole area and wait until someone leaves the range area. Third, maintain your social distancing of 2 meters (6 feet). Forth, you must wear a mask at all times you are on the range. Fifth, only one person is allowed in the main seacan at a time. There is an ample supply of masks, hand sanitizer and gloves for the membership to use. You still need to sign in the log book for yourself and any guests you bring and make sure your guests complete the Liability Waiver form. There will be a Practical/Action Shooting match Saturday November 21 with two (2) separate events at Fundy Shooting Sports. On the two pistol ranges there will be a steel match for centerfire pistol, and pistol caliber carbines. Expect to shoot +/- 150 rounds. On the 100m range there will be a shotgun match with 50-60 rounds of birdshot (no buck shot or slugs). The match fee is $10 for each match and you are able to shoot both if you like. Please, on your registration, state what you would like to shoot and if you have questions Jody will do his best to answer. - RIMFIRE SPEED STEEL SHOOT OCTOBER 31
Fundy Shooting Sports will be hosting a Rimfire Speed Steel competition on Saturday October 31st with first shots at 10:00 AM. On site registration opens at 9:30 AM. Please come early to help in the set up. Match fee: $20 - Round count:150 to 175 minimum, (bring extra!) - BBQ Lunch included in fee. Preregistration is mandatory and can be done via email to ipscjody@yahoo.com. Please make the subject line "Rimfire Steel". Specify in your email what you will be shooting, rifle or pistol, and what division your firearm fits in. The match will have two (2) different divisions; Open, and Limited. Open allows red dot optics, muzzle brakes etc... Limited is iron sights only, no muzzle brakes. This match is open to .22 Long Rifle pistols and rifles only, and each competitor will compete with only one firearm, pistol or rifle. Courses of fire will have 5-6 steel targets of different sizes and shapes, and shot from multiple distances. Each competitor will shoot each course of fire five (5) times with the slowest time being a "throw away." Ideally you should have 5 magazines to run the 5 courses, but bring what you have and we will get you through the match. Cased pistols are mandatory for going to and from the firing line. Rimfire rifles will be transported to and from the firing line completely unloaded, muzzle up with chamber flag installed or bolt locked open for the interim. We will be gradually moving towards all firearms at events requiring chamber flags so please consider purchasing some, and the club has some for sale at $2 each. Registration will close Friday October 30th at noon. How fast can you go? Come out and give it a try. We will be following all provincial COVID19 requirements during the event. We will be giving away, on a draw basis a Ruger 10/22 (wooden stock) rifle with 4 spare magazines. All entrants will get a ticket on the draw and you may purchase up to 2 additional tickets for $10 each. If you would like to shoot this event and don't have a .22LR semi auto rifle the club has a Marlin Model 795 (open sights) with 5 magazines that any member can borrow and use for the day at no charge. Fundy Shooting Sports Inc. is proud to host the George McGillivary 3-Gun Match on Saturday October 24, 2020. First Shots at 9:45 sharp, registration opens at 9:00AM with stage briefing at 9:30AM. Match fee $25, includes a BBQ lunch and drinks available on site. Competitors will compete using serviceable and safe firearms, and abide by stringent safety guidelines. Drawing from a holster will only be permitted by competitors that have completed an IPSC Black Badge course or other training which will require proof of such training. There will be provisions made for those who do not have the afore mentioned training. Courses of fire will require movement and we will be adhering to IPSC safety rules. Competitors will require spare magazines, and/or a means to reload each firearm during the course of fire for all three (3) firearms. Expect to shoot: 75 rounds of pistol, 50-60 rounds of birdshot, 8-10 slugs, 60+ rounds of rifle. Scoring will be hit factor scoring like what is used in IPSC and USPSA matches using Practiscore. Those who have a Practiscore account can register there, or you can send an email detaining all of the information below which is mandatory. Pistol: Make, model, caliber, sights, does it have ports or a muzzle brake. Shotgun: Make, model, gauge, sights, action type, does it have ports etc...Rifle: Make, model, caliber, sights, action type. No pistol caliber carbines, .223 or larger (Shots out to 100m). There are different divisions to ensure competitors compete against others with similar firearms. Please note that this event is geared toward experienced shooters and if you are relatively new with minimal experience this may not be a good event for you. We will be shooting two (2) strings of 15 shots, (2 sighters and 15 for score) for a total of 34 rounds. Shooting will be done from the benches and the prone position, shooters choice. If you do not have a rifle but would like to try this event a .308 and .223 rifle will be available for your use (bring your own ammo). If you have an IPad or other internet capable device, bring that to see your target hits. We will have loaners if you do not have a device. We will be having our annual Dana Russell Memorial Shotgun Shoot on Saturday September 19, 2020 (rain date will be Sunday September 20th). This year we are asking for preregistrations to be completed along with a $20 registration fee. You can send your registration fee by EFT, email, or in person at a Wednesday night shoot. The total cost of the shoot will be $60.00 for 100 clays. We will be accepting a maximum of 30 shooters so we are asking that anyone from the club that will be attending to complete the attached registration form and forward it and your fee to Dave Greene. Our 14th annual Dana Russell Memorial Shoot was held on Sept. 19/20 with 20 shooters in attendance. The winner was Dave Greene with a score of 84/100, second was John Leonard with a score of 82/100 and third place went to Stan McGrattan with an 81/100. High score for our Juniors went to Dale Mills with a 49/100. We would like to thank all those present who helped with the setup, registration, scoring, button pushing, filling the throwers with clays, ticket sales and putting the equipment away. Many hands make light work. We would also like to thank all of our corporate sponsors who contributed prizes and every shooter was presented with a prize. PICTURES ARE HERE! - PRACTICAL OUTLAW PISTOL & PISTOL CALIBER CARBINE MATCH SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 12
On Saturday September the 12th Fundy Shooting Sports will be hosting a Practical Shooting event open to members. Registration will be capped (numbers to be determined). Match fee is $20 and lunch and beverages are included in match fee. This event will utilize IPSC Safety rules which are very stringent. If you have not completed an IPSC Black Badge Course or have some form of holster training you will be allowed to carry your unloaded and holstered firearm on the range, but WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO DRAW A LOADED FIREARM FROM THE HOLSTER. Provisions will be made and explained to you at the match. You will need a serviceable and safe handgun 9mm or larger, belt mounted holster and belt mounted magazine pouches will be an asset, OR a 9mm pistol caliber carbine with spare magazines and magazine carriers. You will require a minimum of 4 magazines for either your pistol or pistol caliber carbine (PCC) but more would be better. If you need additional ones, let me know maybe we can find some loaners. There will be shooter movement between targets and you will be under strict supervision of a Range Officer. If you have a loaded firearm, the trigger finger must be off the trigger unless you are engaging targets and muzzle must be pointed down range. ZERO EXCEPTIONS. Violations of either of these two infractions will result in match disqualification. Safety first. If you have not shot one of these events before, come out and watch and see if it interests you. If it does, we can get you some training and get you started. Please be advised that this event is geared more towards experienced shooters that shoot IPSC but if you are even a bit interested you should come out and at least see it in person and check it out. This may not be for the faint of heart: your round count will be 175+ rounds so bring lots. Preregistration is mandatory, no exceptions. Our Annual Youth Shoot will be held on Saturday August 15 at 10:00. It is open to the children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews of our members who are between the ages of 10 and 17. Members are to provide their own .22LR rifles and ammunition. Please ensure that your rifle is sighted in prior to the shoot as there will be no time to do so before to the shoot. We will be giving away on a draw basis a Ruger 10/22 Semi-automatic .22LR wooden stocked rifle complete with 3 spare magazines, a Avid 10/22 field pack, 6 flashlights, package of self adhesive targets, pin on ball compasses, carabiners, as well as 5 range bags, a sleeping bag, hoodie, camo T shirt, hats, frisbees, and some participant medals as well. If any member wishes to donate any additional prizes please let Dave Greene know. Following a reading of yesterday’s regulation banning a swath of semi-automatic firearms and a briefing with officials from Public Safety, CBSA, Global Affairs, RCMP and the Department of Justice, it was made abundantly clear that the regulations were crafted in haste, and that the government has neither planned nor formulated the rest of the legislation required to implement their hastily crafted policy. As a result, the regulation is both flawed and dangerous. During the briefing the government could not answer simple questions about the methods used for selection, why bolt action firearms were included on the list, why some shotguns are caught in the bore diameter restrictions, why some rimfire firearms are listed contrary to the selection criteria, and on and on. They also stated that the government, on behalf of the Governor in Council, has deemed the list of firearms banned as “not suitable for hunting or sport shooting”, but simultaneously provided an exemption for indigenous owners for the purpose of hunting. Further, this is contrary to the decades-long history of these very firearms being safely used for hunting and sport shooting. This entire regulation bears the mark of an irrational process done in haste, and it divides Canadians. The CCFR further noted that some of the firearms listed in the regulation that are classified as prohibited have exactly the same specifications as other firearms not on the list. This is entirely random and proves without doubt, that the choices made were entirely political in nature. That is not a proper basis for legislation in a democracy. There are also flaws in that no consideration has been given to firearm owners who may move residency within the amnesty period, since transporting of these prohibited firearms is not permitted. The level of incompetence in this act by the Liberal government is astounding. As a result, we feel the Prime Minister and Canadians have been grossly under-served by the Minister and call for his immediate removal from over-seeing this process, and for the repealing of this regulation in order to consult technical experts. In the interim, the CCFR recommends that Canadian firearm owners retain their firearms and NOT turn them in to the government. This deeply flawed process must be reversed immediately. "Going forward any steel and related items that I build for use for club events will be locked up and I will use my discretion on who has access to them. This is getting beyond ridiculous and I have had it. A few irresponsible members have ruined it for everyone! This is ignorant, disrespectful and criminal as far as I am concerned. Also, not knowing who has keys for the seacan we may need to look at changing that lock as well. The pistol ranges are pig pens as well. We had numerous events all winter and kept the range clean. We stop having matches and it goes to hell in short notice. I am pleased to announce that our range is once again open for business! The CFO has given us the green light but all members must adhere to the following rules during this pandemic: Please wear gloves while accessing the gate to gain entry to or upon exit of our facility; Hand sanitizer and disposable gloves are provided by the Club and can be found in the sign in container - Please use them as needed; Number of members, guests or onlookers on the range will be limited to 10 people; Small pistol bay - 2 person maximum; Large pistol bay - 2 person maximum; 25/50 yard bay - 3 person maximum; 100 yard range - 3 person maximum. If the range is at full capacity and you wish to wait for someone to leave so you can shoot, please wait in the parking area by the flag at the yellow gate behind the shotgun field containers. Meetings and organized shooting have been suspended indefinitely. Members must respect physical/social distancing of 2 meters! Due to the ongoing state of emergency in the province the April monthly meeting has been cancelled. The range has been ordered closed by the Department of Public Safety.The range remains open for individual use at this time. NO MORE THAN 10 PERSONS ARE PERMITTED ON THE RANGE AT THE SAME TIME - SECTION 7 OF THE DECLARATION OF A STATE OF EMERGENCY AND MANDATORY ORDER. Ensure all recommended Covid-19 precautions are followed while using the facility. New members will not be accepted until further notice due to the inability to provide a range safety orientation. - STEEL SHOOT FEBRUARY 29
We will be setting up a club steel match Saturday February 29th, first shots at 10:00 AM but please come early to help setup. This will be open to pistol, Pistol Caliber Carbines, rimfire pistols, and rimfire rifles - there will also be some shotgun courses as well. Expect to shoot 100+ rounds on steel and 50 rounds of birdshot. - FUNDY SHOOTING SPORTS DONATION FOR YOUTH FIREARMS TRAINING
A funding request was received from the River Valley Volunteer Hunter Instructor Association for $600 to cover costs for 15 youth to attend firearm safety/hunter education courses. The group sponsored 45 youth in 2019, providing free courses, and has covered over $30,000 in costs since inception. As stated in our club constitution "To promote and teach basic safe hunting skills, wildlife conservation and sportsmanship to our youth" we strongly support such endeavours.

- TEMPORARY RANGE CLOSURE NOVEMBER 15/16
The range will be temporarily closed starting Friday November 15 for construction. We have hired a contractor to install a retaining wall in the pistol bay as well as moving the seacan to another location. To ensure the safety of the workers and their equipment, as well as our members, ALL RANGES ARE CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. Watch for an email from the club announcing when the work is complete. Thanks for your understanding as we improve the facility. - MODERN SPORTING RIFLE SHOOT NOVEMBER 30
Fundy Shooting Sports will be hosting a Action Shooting Rifle match dedicated to all modern sporting rifles including the popular AR-15 and it's variants on Saturday, November 30th, starting at 10:00 AM. Rain Date is Sunday, December 1st. Match fee is $40 and all proceeds will be going to the CCFR to support them in all that they do to represent us in these trying times of firearms ownership. Expect to shoot a minimum of 100 rounds but bring extra. THIS IS NOT A RIMFIRE EVENT. It will be a "Run What You Brung" centerfire rifle event, and Pistol Caliber Carbines are also welcome. If you have any questions regarding the event and what qualifies, contact Jody Waring, the match director. Shooting challenges will be from close range out to 100m. You will need spare magazines, stripper clips, and/or spare rounds and holders for them. Courses of fire will be designed with fun in mind but with safety as our number 1 priority. Come out for some fun, and support a great cause. We would be in a much worse position today if it were not for the representation and lobbying we have had from the CCFR. Liberal Gun Bans and the Election - We need to put a push on immediately to mobilize all members to engage everyone they know. There is only one option in this election, the Conservative Party. There cannot be any division among gun owners. If shotgun and bolt action rifle owners think there is no fear, do not be naive. In four years time those will be gone too, if Justin Trudeau is reelected. Lawful gun owners are once again being blamed for rampant urban crime by liberal strategists who are seeking an easy solution to garner votes. Gun club members need to stand up and get the word out and encourage people to vote. Vote splitting is dangerous. Again there is only one option for the gun owning community. Contact your Conservative candidates and express your concerns and support. This is our last opportunity to take a stand. Those that are not willing to do so are not a friend of the firearms community. Please do your part. Stand up for your rights. Watch the CCFR response to the liberal gun proposal. Read this CSSA open letter to the media and those running for elected office. - ACTION SHOTGUN SHOOT OCTOBER 19
On Saturday October 19th there will be an Action Shooting Shotgun match similar to our other events we have held but is shotgun only. All you need is a serviceable and safe shotgun in 12 or 20 gauge, preferably pump or semi. You will be required to load extra rounds on demand, so a pouch or holder for holding extra rounds is necessary. The shooting challenges are designed to use #7-1/2 to #8 birdshot and shooters will also require 5-10 slugs. Targets will either be stationary steel or clay birds, and accuracy with slugs at distance out to 40-50m will be on cardboard IPSC targets. There will be divisions to fairly place competitors with others with same or similar firearms to minimize any equipment handicaps. There will be movement with the firearm required in some of the courses of fire, so safe gun handling is a must, muzzle to be kept pointed down range and finger out of triggergard and off of the trigger unless engaging targets. No individual course of fire will be more that 16 rounds. Competitors will shoot between 100 and 125 rounds. Please bring extra. Shots can be made easily with cylinder or modified cylinder chokes. Match fee is $25 and we will have food and drinks on site if there is sufficient participation. PRE REGISTRATION IS MANDATORY AND CLOSES NOON ON THURSDAY OCTOBER 17. Our 14th annual Dana Russell Memorial Shotgun Shoot was held on Sept 14/19 with 23 members in attendance. First place winner was Stan McGrattan with a 83/100 score, second place went to Gary Dealy with 78/100 and Dave Greene placed third with a 74/100. High junior shooter was Alex Smith (61/100) and Tracey Roberts (63/100) was the high ladies shooter. The Stevens 555 O/U shotgun was won by Walter Colwell. Pictures are here! - SCOUT EVENT UPDATE
The 11th annual Scout Appreciation Day was held September 8 with 18 Scouts in attendance along with leaders and parents. On Sunday September 8 we will be holding an action shooting event for competitors using centre fire pistol and Pistol Caliber Carbines (PCC). Registration at 9:30 AM and first shots at 10:00 AM. Competitors will be shooting at cardboard and steel targets from close to medium range distances. Holster carry for handguns will only be permitted for those with training in the safe use of holsters such as the IPSC Black Badge Course, or military or law enforcement training. Those without will have other conditions applied and it will be explained at the event. Four (4) or five (5) magazines are recommended. Some movement will be required. PCC's will shoot similar and additional courses of fire and will have some shots extending out to 75 meters. Four (4) or five (5) magazines are recommended. Some movement will be required. THIS MATCH IS NOT OPEN TO RIMFIRE CALIBER FIREARMS. Due to the nature of some of the targets being knock down steel plates they do not react to rimfires; therefore a separate event at a later date will be planned for those firearms. - SKS RED RIFLE SHOOT JULY 6
On Saturday July 6th we will be hosting an SKS match for the SKS family of rifles. Other military surplus rifles are welcome but focus is on the SKS. Maximum round count is 100. Bring a few extra for make up shots :-) There will be shooting challenges from close range out to 50 yards. Please bring a pouch or something similar to carry extra rounds. This match will test the waters to see if matches like this will be held in the future. There will be two (2) divisions: 1- Stock with no modifications, iron sights etc..and 2- Open, which covers optics, stocks etc... First shots at 10:00 AM and we should be wrapped up by 2:00 PM. During this time the 100 yard range will be open for use by all members. Match fee is $20, we will give out scores when match is complete and everything is put away. We will be holding a .22LR Turkey Rifle Shoot on July 11th at 7:00 PM. Open to all .22LR bolt single shot, bolt or semi-auto actions. Targets will be sold for $5 each and the shooter with the best score on the front of the target will get half the money collected plus a $20 Sobeys gift card (get your own turkey) and the shooter with the best score on the back (from a random numbered grid) will get the other half. There will be two rounds, one from 50 yards from a standing position (no straps or leaning on posts or benches) the other will be from 100 yards from a bench position (you may use a bipod of rifle rest, if you like). Each shooter will fire 5 rounds and will have 3 minutes to do so. Please come with your rifles already sighted in as you will not be allowed to do so prior to the shoot. Our Annual Youth Shoot will be held on Saturday July 13 at 10:00 AM. It is open to the children and grandchildren of our members who are between the ages of 10 and 17. Members are to provide their own .22LR rifles and ammunition. Please ensure that your rifle is sighted in as there will be no time to do so prior to the shoot. We will be giving away, on a draw basis, a Ruger 10/22 green laminated wooden stocked rifle complete with a spare magazine. - DAMAGE TO STEEL PLATE RACK BY RIFLE FIRE
After previously being repaired and installed on the 25/50 yard line on June 5th someone has shot and damaged the plate rack with something other than a .22 LR or 9 mm round - after only 6 days in service! It is now unsafe to use and the rack will be removed and repaired yet again. Once repaired it will, unfortunately for the membership, be locked up and only used for club sanctioned events. - STEEL MATCH JUNE 1
On Saturday June 1st we will be hosting a Steel Shooting event at the club. There will be one match on the 50m range that will be comprised of the Rimfire Steel courses of fire like we have had in the past. This event will be open to Rimfire pistols and rifles and non magnum caliber pistols and carbines. Round count is 75 minimum. Competitors may shoot pistol or rifle or both. Open Division is optics and muzzle brakes and Limited is iron sights with no muzzle brake. The second event will have knock down steel targets so it will be designed around centre fire pistol calibers. These courses of fire will also be shot with shotgun and non steel birdshot is required. A pump or semi auto shotgun will suffice. Round count for pistol is 100+ and shotgun will be 50-75 rounds. Competitors with holster carry training will be permitted holster carry, those without will have provisions made. We plan to have lunch on the range so PRE REGISTRATION is MANDATORY. Our Annual Work Detail has been re-scheduled to Wednesday afternoon and evening. A BBQ of fine range cuisine will be available. This will enable the ground to dry out a bit and we can get the range in tip top shape for our public Open Range Day on May 4th. We ask that all members make an attempt to attend, even though it's the middle of the week. Unfortunately the weather has been solidly against us this spring so we had no choice but to postpone our clean up. Thanks for your understanding and support. Our first Open Range Day will be taking place May 4th and we ask all available members, especially RSO's, to please support this event. We will introduce interested novices to safe and responsible use of firearms in a controlled environment and let them experience the fun of shooting sports. All proceeds will benefit the Joshua Group. We are booked to capacity, expecting 100 people! Thanks. UPDATE: First, let me say thank you to all of you who helped out yesterday for our first “Open Range Day”. You are all to be commended for your hard work. Without the help of our club volunteers we would not be able to put on this event. As this was our first event of this kind we were not quite sure of what to expect but I feel we did a good job and we had some great feedback from the public. If there was anything that you observed that we should change for a next time please let us know. At the April meeting Dave Greene read out letters he had written to counter anti-firearm groups who have been misleading the media regarding gun crime in Canada. Dave encouraged all members to write letters to major newspapers and make the voice of common firearms owners heard. You can read the letters here (letter1) and here (letter 2).

- IPSC BLACK BADGE COURSE
Please be advised that there will be a Black Badge Course starting on May 3rd for classroom work in the evening from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Lawton's West Side, 2nd floor; on May 4th on the range for a practical session from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM; and May 5th for the mandatory qualifying match at the range from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Due to the forecasted heavy rain for the next several days we are postponing our Work Detail clean up at the range that was scheduled for tomorrow. - GUEST LIABILITY WAIVERS
At the December annual general meeting a motion was passed that requires any guests who visit the range to complete and sign a liability waiver which is then witnessed and signed by the member who brought them out. The regulations appendix has been amended as follows:10 – GUESTS Guests may use the range under the following conditions: a) That they be accompanied by a club member. b) That their name be printed into the log book, that they print and sign their name on the liability waiver form and have it witnessed and signed by the club member who will then put the form in the appropriate container. Guests must complete the waiver every time they visit the range. c) That they follow the directions of the Range Officer. d) That there be no more than two (2) guests per member at any one time. e) Guests who have been to the range on two (2) previous separate occasions are expected to become members. It is not our intent to create permanent guests.

Time to renew your membership! Please take the time to complete an application and return it to the executive at a regular monthly meeting. REMEMBER - The locks have been changed and your key won't work! PLEASE REMEMBER TO RETURN YOUR KEY FROM LAST YEAR! HELP THE CLUB CONTROL COSTS! Please bring your completed membership renewal form, your old range key stamped “C” and your $75 for one year, $150 for two years or $225 for three years. If you could bring the exact change (that would be helpful) or a cheque will do as well. For those members who did purchase multi-year memberships or who joined the club late in the year (after Oct 1st ) you may come in to exchange your old “B” key for a new one. Please remember to bring in your membership card to confirm that you have already paid for the upcoming year. Thank you. - Additional Membership Sign Up Days - January 2019
We will be having Extra Membership Renewal Days on Tuesday, January 1st, from 7:00-9:00 PM; Friday, January 4th, from 7:00-9:00 PM; and Saturday, January 5th, from 1:00-3:00 PM at our regular meeting spot at the church hall. These are only for existing members; new members must attend a regular monthly meeting and complete the range safety orientation. Don't forget that renewals done prior to March 31st will have a $10 discount applied so it will only cost you $75 for the year or $150 for two years or $225 for three years. For those members who have already renewed for 2019 you will have to exchange your 2018 "C" key for the new 2019 "A" key. Please bring your membership card for validation to the extra days as noted above and don't forget your old key.
